Caprock Ranchers’ Association was formed in 2006 by a group of ranchers and horsemen who had the desire to be able to offer their fine ranch horses to the public. These individuals did this by developing a sale and futurity program exclusive to their ranch raised horses. The association includes 8 of the most historic ranches in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico and several of the finest ranch horses in the industry. The member ranches represent almost 320,000 acres of land, over 6,250 mother cows and over 6,000 head of stockers. Most importantly, member ranches represent over 500 head of the most excellent working ranch horses in the country. Each year, members of the association offer the public the opportunity to purchase horses ranging from weanlings to experienced ranch geldings. In addition, the members have developed a unique futurity program that allows individuals to purchase a horse through the sale, or a horse by one of their nominated stallions in order to be brought back to be shown in a three-year-old ranch horse futurity. In the first three years the futurity has paid out well over $20,000 in cash and prizes.
